Botanical Name: Amyris balsamifera
AMYRIS
From: $12.00
Description
Origin: Haiti
Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled
Characteristics: Amyris Wood Oil, Amyris balsamifera, is a Caribbean Wood oil sometimes referred to as West Indian Sandalwood. It is not a true sandalwood because it is not from the Santalum genus and contains no santalol, an important and telling constituent. Amyris is like sandalwood in some ways. It is a heartwood oil with a very high sesquiterpene content. It is also a viscous thicker oil that ages well and increases in value with responsible storage. It adds attractive subtle woody notes to blends.
It is grounding and helps promote concentration. An individual is able to disconnect from stress and return to a more even state of mind. It can be blended successfully with patchouli, sandalwood and atlas Cedarwood. Diffuse it in the evenings at the end of the work day. Diffuse during meditation or prayer. Use it in blends as a fixative and try it with a hint of vanilla or tobacco absolute.
