Botanical Name: Elettaria cardamomum
Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled
Characteristics: Cardamom Seed, Elettaria cardamomum – is a classic central Asian spice that is distilled to recover a pale yellow mobile liquid that is lighter than water. The aroma presents fresh, spicy and natural.
Traditional aroma therapy uses include digestive issues, bad breath, immunity building and sexual stimulant.
English herbalist William Cole called it the “chief of…seeds.”
EOQA frequently discourages the internal use of volatile oils. When internal use is called for in a manual or some book it is our position that fresh or dried herbs, spices and plants be used instead of oils, along with a balanced diet, proper rest and plenty of pure water. It is almost always wiser to use fresh, organic plants over highly concentrated extracts and collected volatiles. We concede there are a few exceptions but generally there are safer options.
Cardamom oil is beautiful diluted in carriers and used straight in aroma therapy diffusers. The pure oil clears the air, kills odors and uplifts the attitude of the family and team.
