Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled
Characteristics: Chamomile, German, Matricaria chamomilla –is distilled to recover a blue liquid of varying viscosity and mobility. The aroma is pleasant, tea-like with sweet nuances and tobacco undertones. It is best to request this oil by its full botanical name to avoid confusion. Roman and German chamomile are two entirely different genus and species. They are distinctly different.
German chamomile is used for skin care, circulation, digestive issues and to balance the nervous system. Sometimes the oil will be green depending on specifics of distillation details and storage. Central Asian versions are frequently green. In both cases to protect the integrity of the oil it is best to store in a cool dark place and minimize space. To assist with the viscosity issues a warm water bath can be employed.
The dark color can stain the skin, fingernails, clothes and pretty much anything exposed. It blends well with herbal florals like Lavender and Roman Chamomile.
