Botanical Name: Salvia sclarea
CLARY SAGE USA
From: $22.00
Description
Origin: Bulgaria
Method of Extraction: Steam Distilled
Characteristics: Clary Sage, Salvia sclarea – is a large herb harvested once a year for steam distillation and other uses. The steam distilled oil is a mobile liquid with a pale yellow color. The smell is sweet, herbal and complex. When we say an aroma is complex we mean that there are many interpretations of what is happening in terms of organoleptics. One might say it is more herbal while another might notice spicy tones. For this reason clary sage has been a favorite as a tobacco favoring and it is still very important in fine fragrance.
Clary sage is mentioned in aroma therapy literature to assist in treatments for hair loss, circulation, respiratory issues, and reproductive health. It has gained relevance in women’s hormonal issues lately. It shares many elements with lavender and bergamot and compliments blends with these oils. It is commonly blended with frankincense.
It is cultivated throughout the world but USA material is superior in balance and bouquet. Still there are no empirical studies that indicate superior therapeutic function of clary sage from any particular region.
